The Journey

My journey began in Houston, Texas, where I faced the challenges and opportunities that shaped my path. I graduated from school a year early and began my higher education at a local community college. From there, I transferred to Houston Baptist University, where I pursued a double major in Business Administration and Business Management. Fueled by a passion for continuous learning, I later earned my Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the Cameron School of Business at the University of St. Thomas.

With over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, I've held a variety of roles across customer experience, sales, and sales management. In addition, I've spent over 5 years specializing in marketing and strategic development. What I’ve learned throughout my career is that success doesn’t come from just mastering technical skills—it’s about fostering strong, dynamic teams and creating a culture of collaboration. One of my greatest strengths is understanding what it takes to build a diverse, high-performing team that delivers consistent results.

The turning point in my career came when I was recruited to Massachusetts to lead a new team after successfully completing a special project for the 4G network rollout in Alaska. I had spent years developing expertise in setting up new retail stores, training employees, and driving performance, so I was confident I could succeed. However, I quickly realized that leadership is not just about knowing the work—it’s about understanding the people you lead.

Several months into my new role, my boss—who was known for being tough but fair—sat me down for a candid conversation. She asked if she had made a mistake choosing me for the position. In that moment, I felt devastated, but I set my pride aside and listened carefully. What I learned from her changed the way I approached leadership forever. She explained that she had hired me to implement change, turn the store around, and achieve high revenue results. I knew I was capable, but what I hadn't realized was that in my effort to fit in and make the team comfortable, I had lost sight of what made me unique.

That tough conversation became a pivotal moment of self-discovery: I didn’t need to change myself to fit into the role—I needed to be myself. This lesson is at the core of my approach to leadership and consulting. I’ve seen too many leaders try to overcompensate for perceived weaknesses by reinventing themselves to fit a mold. This may bring short-term success, but it leads to burnout and frustration. True success comes from embracing your authentic self and leveraging your unique perspective.

My personal journey has deeply shaped this philosophy. Growing up in a marginalized community and being raised by a single mother after my father’s incarceration, I experienced firsthand what it felt like to be counted out. These challenges taught me the importance of resilience, empathy, and the power of inclusion. I know that when every individual has a seat at the table and is encouraged to contribute their unique perspective, teams thrive.

As a leader, I’ve learned that celebrating differences, fostering an inclusive culture, and prioritizing employee development are the keys to driving engagement and collaboration. By focusing on each person’s strengths and empowering them to achieve their full potential, we create environments where success isn’t just possible—it’s inevitable.

Today, I am passionate about helping other business professionals and leaders unlock their potential and achieve remarkable success. Whether you're looking to boost productivity, improve morale, or transform your team, I’m here to guide you every step of the way. Together, we can create a culture of excellence where individuals thrive, teams succeed, and businesses reach their highest potential.
